John Tener Autograph, baseball player, Governor of Pennsylvania, President of the National League, signed on a 1909 letter, while he was a US Conressman.
Tener broke into major league baseball for one game in 1885 with the American Association's Baltimore Orioles. Later played in 1888-89 for the Chicago White Stockings (now the Cubs). Pitched for Cap Anson's world baseball tour. In 1890 pitched for the Pittsburgh Burghers of the short lived Players League. Later he was a US Representative from the 24th district of Pennslyvania. It was at this time he wrote this letter to a local railroad asking for asking for their support of the local Republicans. Tener became Pennsylvania's 89th Governor in 1911 (serving to 1915). Tener also became the president baseball's of the National League in 1913 till 1918. Later he was elected as a director of the Philadelphia National League (Phillies) Baseball Club in 1931. Was successfull in banking and insurance till his death in 1946. A true achiever in life.
Size is about 8x10.5". There is a single file clip hole in top center, and the usual folds in the letter, one corner had a bend at one time. The paper used shows the watermark of Crane's Japanese Linen paper (used by many US Reps of the time) and is dated 1908.

Adios Amigo/ROBERTO CLEMENTE/1973 Newspaper,    the "Roto" magazine section from the Pittsburgh Press newspaper for February 4, 1973. This was a special section issued soon after he died on the humanitarian mission in the Caribbean. A full color cover portrait, and a 4-page photo spread inside including 2 pages in color. Some cover wear, especially near the spine.

1969 New York News JOE DIMAGGIO Color Cover,    complete "Coloroto Magazine" section from the New York News newspaper of September 28, 1969. The color cover is a great portrait of Joe DiMaggio, one of the best baseball players ever. Hall of Fame, and much more. The article inside is entitled "The Greatest Living Ballplayer". Great writeup, and a couple more photos. Joe was a coach for the Oakland A's at this time. Size 11x13 inches, NOTE that the scan does not show all of the cover due to size of scanner.

Minnie Minoso was 53 yrs old in 1976, got one hit for the Chicago White Sox becoming the oldest person to hit safely in the major leagues; tried again in 1980 but failed in two at bats, but got (tied for) record for playing in 5 different decades. And in 1993 took a turn at bat for the Saint Paul Saints (of the Northern League) to become the oldest proffesional baseball player ever at just over 70 years old!!! (He grounded out).

5 items from the Indy Motor Speedway for the 1968 season. First, an admission ticket to the Speedway for April 30 thru May 29, 1968. Second, a Garage Area pass for May 1 thru May 26, 1968. The last 3 items are amateur photographs of the Memorial Day 500 race, taken from the infield. They are dated 5/30/68 on the backs. The 2 tickets show some wear and soiling. Th photos each have something stuck on the upper areas that someone tried to peel off. Might be able to be soaked off. If so, the images would be near perfect.
